Hornet’s Nest Board Endorses Jason Simmons for NCGOP Chairman Two weeks ago, NCGOP Chairman Michael Whatley was elected Chairman of The Republican National Committee. This is a huge honor for Michael and NC; however, it has created a vacancy for the NCGOP chairman that will be filled at a special meeting on March 26 by the NCGOP State Executive Committee. After careful consideration of the 3 announced candidates for state chairman, The Hornet’s Nest Republican Men's Club has decided to endorse Jason Simmons. While all 3 candidates have a long history with the Republican Party, Jason Simmons is uniquely qualified. In 2012 Jason was the NC campaign director for Mitt Romney (in 2008 NC voted for a democrat president for the first time since 1976, so it was critical Romney carried NC). In 2016 Jason was the NC campaign director for Donald Trump and in 2020 he was the SE Regional Director (covering 7 states) for President Trump. Working at that level on 3 presidential campaigns brings a lot of knowledge and experience that is unique to Jason. Jason has also served as the NCGOP Executive Director since February 2021 and has played an integral part of planning and executing NCGOP's election strategy. Jason also served in executive administrations at the state and federal level. The NCGOP state convention is less than 2 months away, Jason is a vital part of planning the convention to make it a big success, and of course we are in the midst of the 2024 elections. It doesn't make any sense to change leadership at this time. Jason can take over for Chairman Whatley in a seamless transition. As the Executive Director, it was Jason's responsibility to hire the staff to work at NCGOP headquarters, and he has assembled what is easily the best staff in the country. If another chairman is elected, we would assume they would want to make changes to the staff - that is only natural. Simply stated, we cannot afford that type of disruption at this point in time. Finally, Donald Trump cannot win in November without winning North Carolina. It is imperative that the NCGOP works closely with the Trump campaign and that means having a chairman that has President Trump's full confidence. President Trump has fully endorsed Jason Simmons for NCGOP Chairman without any hesitation. The Hornet Nest Republican Men's Club has over a dozen members on the State Executive Committee who will travel next week to cast our vote for Jason Simmons. We urge the NCGOP Executive Committee members to vote for Jason Simmons for NCGOP Chairman.
