December Jobs Report: The Worst of 2021

• The December jobs report was yet another massive miss for Joe Biden and his administration.
  • The economy added back just 199,000 jobs in December, less than half the jobs economists had predicted.
    • This is the worst jobs report of 2021.
    • In four of the past five months, the economy has added far fewer jobs than expected.
  • The Black unemployment rate increased in December.
• The report provides little consolation to the 3.6 million Americans who lost their job during the pandemic and have yet to get it back.
• The report also demonstrates the damaging economic effects of disincentivizing work through massive government largess - businesses cannot find workers to fill job openings. 
  • Joe Biden’s policies have created a worker shortage and rising prices, and Americans are feeling the effects everyday.
  • There are more than 10.5 million job openings that businesses are struggling to fill– a near record high – even though there are 6.3 million unemployed Americans trying to find a job.
    • 3.1 million workers were unable to work in December because their employer was closed or had lost business because of the pandemic.
    • Nearly 4 million Americans are working part-time for economic reasons.
  • Key inflation indicators show higher prices are here to stay under Biden.
    • Producer prices have risen 9.6% since last November.
    • In November, the consumer price index rose 6.8% compared to 2020.
    • Economists project that high inflation will last well into 2022, with consumer price spikes above the average over the past decade.
    • American workers and families believe inflation will keep making their paychecks worth less and less.
  • Biden’s unconstitutional vaccine mandate further threatens jobs and livelihoods of Americans across the country.
    • The mandate would impact more than 100 million Americans, stifle small businesses struggling with the supply crisis, and worsen labor shortages.
• While Biden and Democrats are smothering the economy with slide into socialism and central planning, the Red State recovery continues with Republican-led states creating jobs.
  • Through November, 17 of the top 20 states for jobs recovered since the pandemic began are led by Republican governors.
    • North Carolina is also in the top 20 thanks to our Republican legislature keeping taxes low and opportunity high.
  • 16 of the top 20 states with the lowest unemployment rates are led by Republican governors.
  • Voters are flocking to Republican-led states. Eight of the top ten hottest real estate markets are in Red states.
    • The other two? BOTH in North Carolina (Raleigh at #3 and Charlotte at #5) thanks to Republican economic policies drawing businesses, jobs, and families to our state.
• Now is not the time for a bloated tax-and-spend agenda like Biden, Pelosi, Schumer, and DC Democrats are trying to push through Congress.
• Now IS the time to pump the breaks on Democrats' Big Government central planning and restore sanity in DC.
