  • Sweet Union Republican Women's Club October 27th, 2026

Please join Sweet Union Republican Women on October 27th at the Weddington Swim and Racquet Club.  Our featured guest is Adam Draper from the Pacific Justice Institute and the topic is Partnering to Defend Religious Freedom and Constitutional Rights.  Social hour starts at 6:30 with the meeting starting at 7 pm.

Adam Carroll Draper is a Christian, a husband, a father, and an American.  He also practices law.  Adam believes that law necessarily enforces what a government deems right and wrong, good and bad; and that the people follow that law to the extent that they believe the law is right and/or to the extent that they fear the consequences the government imposes upon those who violate the law.  He argues that a society is doomed whose people do not follow its laws because they agree with them in general, but only obey out of fear of punishment, stressing that Christianity has provided the moral basis for societal agreement in America from its founding, acting as the glue that has held our society together.

Adam joins the Pacific Justice Institute in the cause of defending freedom in light of the self-evident truth that we are all created equal and endowed by our creator with unalienable rights to life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness, and that any government that refuses to recognize these rights and protect them violates its reason to exist.

Having practiced law as a civil litigator since 1989, representing both businesses and individuals in a wide variety of cases from major litigation to every-day issues, Adam provides PJI with the perspective of someone who has also run a law firm for nearly thirty years.  He ended that practice at the Lord’s prompting, following his heart to defend the Constitution, which is the reason he became a lawyer in the first place.  The wisdom born of that experience yields some practical insight to form effective legal strategies in the defense of liberty now, but at bottom that experience serves to humble him to the truth that God declares the end from the beginning.

Adam was admitted to practice law in North Carolina in 1989.  He graduated earlier that year from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill School of Law, where he was a member of the Holderness Moot Court Bench.   In 1986, he graduated magna cum laude from Lenoir-Rhyne University with a Bachelor of Arts in Philosophy as an honors student with a thesis on Law and Religion.  Mr. Draper also received Lenoir-Rhyne’s Award for Editorial Achievement in 1986 for his work on the college’s newspaper.

In addition to working with PJI, Adam currently serves as a member of the Board of Elections of Forsyth County, North Carolina; and he is the Chairman of the Board of the House of Prayer, a Christian rehabilitation facility in Jamestown, North Carolina.  He and his wife, Stefanie, live in Winston Salem, North Carolina; and Adam is a member of the North Carolina State Bar, the Thirty-First Judicial District Bar and the Forsyth County Bar.  He is also admitted to practice in Federal Court in North Carolina.
